This policy explains what happens to your information when you visit welcometo.bd. It describes what this site actually does — not a generic list of everything a website might do.
What this site does not do
It is worth stating plainly what is not happening here, because most sites you visit do all of it:
- No analytics or tracking. This site does not run Google Analytics or any other visitor-tracking or measurement service.
- No advertising. There is no ad network on this site, and no advertising cookies.
- No third-party tracking or profiling. Your visit is not used to build a profile of you, and nothing is shared with data brokers or advertisers.
- No newsletter or mailing list. There is nothing here that collects your email address for marketing.
- No accounts. Visitors cannot register, and there is no login for readers.
- Nothing is sold. Your personal information is not sold, rented, or traded.
If any of this changes, this page will be updated before the change goes live.
What this site does collect
Comments
If you leave a comment on a guide, this site collects what you type into the comment form: your name, your email address, your website address if you enter one, and the comment itself.
Alongside that, WordPress automatically records your IP address and your browser's user agent string with the comment. This is standard WordPress behaviour and it exists to help identify spam.
- Your name, your comment, and your website address (if given) are published publicly on the site. Do not put anything in a comment that you would not want a stranger, a search engine, or a future employer to read.
- Your email address is not published. It is visible to the site administrator and is used to identify you as the commenter and to reply if needed.
- Your IP address is not published.
Please do not put personal details in a comment. If you have a question about your own trip, your passport, your health, or anything else you would not shout across a room, use the Contact page instead.
Avatars
If you leave a comment, WordPress may send an anonymised, hashed version of your email address to the Gravatar service to check whether you have a public avatar picture, so it can be shown next to your comment. Gravatar is operated by Automattic and has its own privacy policy. Nothing is sent to Gravatar unless you comment.
Cookies
- If you leave a comment, WordPress may set cookies in your browser that remember your name, email, and website, so you do not have to type them again next time. These are a convenience only. They are set by this site, they are not used to track you, and you can decline or delete them in your browser without breaking anything on the site.
- If the site administrator logs in, WordPress sets cookies to keep that session going. These do not apply to visitors.
There are no advertising, analytics, or cross-site tracking cookies on this site.
Server logs
Like effectively every website, this site is hosted on a web server, and that server keeps standard access logs — including IP addresses — as part of running and securing the service. This site's operator does not use those logs to track or profile individual visitors.
Embedded content from other sites
Guides may embed content from other websites — a map, a video, a social media post. Embedded content behaves exactly as if you had visited the other site directly. Those sites can collect data about you, use cookies, and track your interaction with the embedded content, and this site has no control over that. Their privacy policies apply, not this one.
How long information is kept
- Comments and their metadata are kept indefinitely, so that follow-up replies can be recognised and the discussion on a guide stays intact. If you want that changed, ask — see below.
- Server logs are kept for as long as the hosting provider retains them as part of normal operation.
Who your information is shared with
Your information is not shared with anyone for marketing, advertising, or profiling. It is only ever handled by:
- The site's hosting provider, which necessarily processes the data in the course of hosting the site.
- Gravatar, and only as described above, and only if you leave a comment.
Information may also be disclosed where there is a genuine legal obligation to do so.
Your choices
You have real control here, and using it is easy:
- Do not comment. If you never leave a comment, this site collects no personal information about you at all beyond the standard server logs described above.
- Ask for your comment to be deleted. Ask and it will be removed, along with the email, IP, and user agent stored with it.
- Ask what is held about you. Ask and you will be told what is stored, and given a copy.
- Ask for corrections. If something stored about you is wrong, ask and it will be fixed.
Depending on where you live — for example in the UK or the EU — you may have additional statutory rights over your personal data. Requests will be honoured regardless of where you are; you do not need to cite a law to ask.

Children
This site is a travel guide written for adults and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has left personal information in a comment, please get in touch and it will be removed.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the effective date at the top of this page will change with it. Material changes — particularly anything that involves collecting more than is collected today — will be described on this page rather than made quietly.
