Why this page exists
Anyone can publish a travel guide. Very few explain how their information was arrived at, when it was last checked, or what happens when they get something wrong.
This site is new and its guides are still being written. This page sets out the standards those guides are meant to be held to. If a guide here falls short of what is described below, please tell us.
Sourcing
Official facts come from official sources. Where a guide states something that can be checked against a government or operator source — entry procedures, permit requirements, published fares, official opening hours — it will be checked against that source, not against another travel site. Travel blogs copy each other's outdated information endlessly, and Bangladesh is a particularly bad case of it.
First-hand observation will be labelled as such. Where a guide describes what was actually seen at a place, it will say so. Where it is compiled from published sources, it will not pretend otherwise. You should never have to guess which one you are reading.
Uncertainty will be stated, not smoothed over. When something cannot be confirmed — a fare that varies, a rule that appears to be applied inconsistently, a road whose condition depends on the season — the guide will say so plainly. A confident guess is worse than an honest "this varies, check locally."
Dating and freshness
Time-sensitive information in Bangladesh goes stale quickly. Entry rules change, permit requirements for certain areas change, fares change, and the monsoon rearranges what is even possible.
- Guides will carry a visible date so you can judge for yourself how much to trust them.
- Prices will be given in Bangladeshi taka with the period they applied to, because quoting a taka figure without a date is close to meaningless.
- Where information is known to be volatile, the guide will point you to the authority that holds the current answer rather than pretending to be that authority.
Corrections
Guides on this site will contain mistakes. The test of a publisher is what happens next.
- Credible corrections will be checked and, where they hold up, the guide will be fixed.
- Corrections that change the substance of a guide will be noted on the guide itself, rather than quietly edited away.
- Reports from travellers who have recently been on the ground will be taken seriously — often they are the fastest signal that something has changed.

Independence
Coverage is not for sale. No place will be covered here because someone paid for it to be, and no hotel, tour operator, or agency will have any say over what a guide says about them. Offers to pay for inclusion, for a review, or for a link will be declined.
Current commercial state, as of [EFFECTIVE DATE — set this when you publish]: this site carries no advertising, no sponsored placements, and no affiliate links.
If that changes, it will be disclosed. Should a guide ever contain an affiliate link, a sponsored section, or a paid placement, that will be stated clearly and visibly on the guide itself — at the top, not buried in a footer. A commercial relationship will never be the reason a recommendation exists.
Recommendations and opinion
Where this site recommends something, the recommendation is the site's own view, and the reasoning will be shown so you can decide whether it applies to you. A beach that suits one traveller does not suit another.
Opinion will be presented as opinion and kept separate from the checkable facts around it.
What this site does not do
This site is a travel guide. It is not a substitute for professional or official advice, and there are questions it deliberately will not answer:
- It does not issue visa or immigration rulings. The relevant authority does.
- It does not give medical or vaccination advice. A doctor or travel health clinic does.
- It does not tell you whether a place is safe for you to go. Your own government's travel advice, and current local conditions, do.
